Aims

The course unit aims to support and train students in the BCS Professional Development Scheme and Logbook documentation procedures, and to develop career management planning skills.

Academic knowledge

Understand how to record their placement tasks and responsibilities through Career Development Plans.
Benchmark their responsibilities and competence against BCS performance standards.
Understand how completed Logbooks are assessed by the School and can be validated by the BCS.

Intellectual skills

'Forward plan' their placement learning and consider how to manage professional and personal development issues.

Personal Development Planning for skills set audit.
Managing your placement experience, former placement students, tips for success.
Completing the Career Development Plan, reviewing and comparing CDPs.
Benchmarking against the ISM: mapping CDP to job descriptions.
Validation, employer reviews, and submitting the Logbook.
