Research Participants Needed for ECG Interpretation Study

    Can visualisations support ECG interpretation?

We would like to invite everyone in the community to participate in this eye-tracking study to evaluate the use of data visualisations in supporting laypeople, who don't have any experience in ECG interpretation, to detect a heart problem on the ECG. The task takes around 30-40 minutes and the study could last for one hour. It will be carried out at the Interaction Analysis and Modelling (IAM) lab in Kilburn building (LF1).

For more details please see the attached file or email  Alaa Alahmadi <alaa.alahmadi@postgrad.manchester.ac.uk>.

    [ top ]PGR Mentors

    Reminder: Join the Mentors!

Come out to Atlas 1 on Fri 12 July 12:30 for pizza and to learn about what the Mentors will be doing next year and why you should be part of the team!

During the transition in the academic staff leadership of the PGR program, the Mentors program has been a bit neglected. Your Mentors have done a bang up job keeping things going (organising the welcome dinner and other social occasions) and we want to build on that foundation!

    As a mentor you will:

    1. Work directly with the academic leadership (most often with Bijan) to improve the PGR program.
    2. Provide support for fellow students.
    3. Help identify issues and opportunities affecting PGR students.
    4. Design and execute social and academic events.
    5. Other things you come up with!

We aim for a very rational time commitment and will work for recognition, dual utility, and compensation in a variety of ways (find out more on Friday)!

Even if you don't feel like you want to be a mentor this year, please come out for pizza and a chat!

If you know someone who you think would make a good mentor, encourage them to come out.

If you can't make the meeting and are still interested, please email Bijan <bijan.parsia@manchester.ac.uk>.
