Stop the Byte Cafe from Closing

    TL;DR

If you want food and beverages in the Kilburn Building then email Alison Shedlock (Alison.Shedlock@manchester.ac.uk) and protest at the Byte Cafe's possible closure.

Handy Email Text which you may want to vary slightly

    Hi Alison,

I hope you are well. I'd like to strongly protest at the possible closure of the Byte Cafe located in the Kilburn Building of Computer Science. The cafe is well used by Computer Science Staff and Students as well as IT Services (on the ground floor) and this makes it busy across the year.

Indeed, the Byte cafe is a mainstay of the student experience in Computer Science as it is situated next to all the main CS laboritories. Further, Wendy who staffs the Byte Cafe is an outstanding Food on Campus employee and by her effort and service is now very much part of the Kilburn family.

Again, I would strongly ask you to reconsider any attempt to close the Byte Cafe.

    Best Regards,

    Longer (thanks to Jennie Ball-Foster)

You may have heard that the Catering management are looking at proposals to close various food on campus outlets including our own much beloved Byte Café.  There are also rumours that Wendy could be moved in any case.  It’s madness that we could lose a café that is always busy, vibrant and hosted by someone who is now very much part of the Kilburn family.  I don’t know what we can do, but a starting point I guess is to contact the Head of Hospitality and Events: Alison Shedlock (Alison.Shedlock@manchester.ac.uk).  Please could I encourage you to share this with any others who use the service and who are also going to be impacted by this if the closure goes ahead.  If the emails don’t work, may be a petition?
